What is Cyberpunk? By its very definition it is the struggle of Man vs. Machine, and Man losing his humanity to the Machine. METROPOLIS is just such a story. 

In between the covers of the novel by Thea Von Harbou and the credits of the film by Fritz Lang you witness a story of powerful corporations suppressing the masses, soulless machines and new technologies running every other part of a man's life. Though the story was told in 1926, you will notice a very cyberpunk theme running throughout. That is what this supplement is for, to help the user incorporate the culture and the world of METROPOLIS into a Cyberpunk game that you and your players will enjoy.
 
The timeline of events that happen are not your standard fare. It is exclusive to METROPOLIS and really only take place over the course of a few weeks. It is up to you, the GM, to determine at what point in the timeline the game will take place. 

Unfortunately (for me writing this supplement), METROPOLIS centers not on the city itself, instead, it focuses it's energies upon the main characters, with the wonders and spectacles of the city in the background. Through the course of writing this supplement I have found that I needed to take some liberties in the translation to game terms but was able to adhere to the spirit of the novel and film. 

Though it is not required that you read the original book or have viewed the film, it is strongly recommended that you do. The Links and other Propoganda page listed at the bottom of the Table of Contents will guide you to other resources on the web which will help you encounter the METROPOLIS experience, as well as a guide to the various versions of METROPOLIS that are available today.
