METROPOLIS

the Upper City

The Upper city is what the industrialist Joh Fredersen envisioned his Utopian paradise to be with wealthy inhabitants living in palatial apartments set in colossal glass, steel, chrome and concrete spires.

Those fortunate enough to inhabit the Upper city are able to walk between buildings using the enclosed, climate-controlled, glass walkways. Personal airships flit about the rooftops. Impressive views of the Sea can be seen from the western most buildings, while the mountains to the east give viewers an equally impressive display.

Located among the vast expanses of the city is the "Club of the Sons", which is more of a district than a single building. Included within its boundaries are the "Eternal Gardens", theatres, libraries, fine dining and a stadium.

It is also in the Upper city where all of the city's financial centers are located. These financial juggernaughts are tightly guarded by corporate security because of the 2.5 billion Marks flow through these centers daily.

It is estimated that 20 million people dwell in the Upper city, either as permanent residents or as highly skilled workers doing their daily jobs.
