Fumbles Away!

It seems to be a stretch to say that a person with an 8 in rifle would shoot one of his own party members once every 50 times he pulls the trigger (or himself once every 100), but that is the way the fumble system is currently set up.

Here is the new plan, if a fumble is rolled, roll a d10, add in any remaining luck and the base skill level, then compare it to the chart below. No matter what your skill or luck is, a roll of a one is still a one. If the roll is 30+ then the fumble isn't actually a fumble, but a sloppy success.

The use of luck can be used here as well. So if you have 5 luck left, you can spend up to 5 luck to make the roll d10+rifle+5(luck)+5(spent luck), which would be fine until the next fumble where you would have no luck left!

AREA
ROLL
Reflex (Combat) Reflex (Athletics) Tech (Repair or Create) EMP (Convince, Fast Talk, Seduce) INT (Figure Out,
Notice, Catch a Clue)
1 Roll 1d10:

1-5 You manage to wound a member of your own party

6-10 max. damage to self

You Fail abysmally, and manage to hurt yourself in the process, if a physical action roll 1d6 damage and make a stun save at -2 You damaged the device beyond repair, if it can explode, it will!

shrapnel damage is 2d6 (Usually to bare hands)

You must have insulted them cause they are going to attack you now! (or if not appropriate, kill them in their sleep) You are
completely oblivious to EVERYTHING that is going on around you - 3 to ALL actions next round.
2-9 Roll 1d10:

1-5 You Manage to wound a member of your own party.

6-10 you manage to wound yourself, roll for location

You Fail miserably, and manage to hurt yourself in the process, if a physical action roll 1d6 damage and make a stun save at -1 You damaged the device beyond repair, buy a new one You blew it royally You not only don't convince them, they are violently opposed to anything you want to do. roll 1d10. On a 1-4 they will attempt to do physical harm You are completely oblivious to what is going on and it's obvious to everyone around you, or you don't know anything about the subject
10-14 You manage to drop your weapon (roll for reliability), will take one round to pick it up OR to draw new weapon You Fail miserably, and manage to hurt yourself in the process, if a physical action roll 1d6/2 damage and make a stun save You manage to break the tool that you are working with to fix the other item, buy a new one (hope you have a spare) They pretend to accept what you are saying and then contact the local authorities/trip the alarm You give out false information thinking its true, those that hear this info are at a -3 on there next roll on the subject
15-19 Your weapon Jams (make reliability roll) or weapon becomes embedded for one turn You Fail miserably, and manage to hurt yourself in the process, if a physical action take 1 point of damage and make a stun save You not only fail, you make it worse! you damage the thing you were working on... raise the difficulty by 5 So much for your people skills You don't convince them, you leave them totally cold (-4 to your next EMP roll) to any other suggestions you might have You don't know anything about what is going on and you haven't got a clue about how to do anything about it. Make a convince check at -2 to see if anyone else notices how dumb you are
20-24 Your weapon discharges hitting something harmless (Make a reliability roll) You manage to land on your ass. -3 for the next action after getting up you misplaced a part, will take 1d6 rounds to find it They are swaying, make another roll at -2 to convince them otherwise nobody believes you, and they won't next time either
25-29 No fumble, you just miss No fumble, you just make an idiot of yourself No Fumble, you just can't get it together No Fumble, they just ain't buying it No Fumble, you just don't know how to do it, or are unconcerned
30+ Very sloppy shot, but it was a success! roll location & damage as normal You manage to get the job done, in the most uninspired way possible Nobody knows how you did it, but it works! (ain't duct tape wonderful?) The person you are trying to impress either feels sorry for you or thinks you are cute in some odd way Boy did you get lucky! you ended up dropping the book you were looking through to the page needed, or happened to tie your shoe and see the reflection off of the barrel
