"Nothing can go wrong"

They lied.

Problems at Delos started six weeks prior to the current guests arrival. The engineers expected a certain amount of failures from the robots, at least of the peripheral type, they calculated .03% per 24 hour activation period (concurrent). What they did not expect was a rash of "central" breakdowns that have been manifesting themselves. The symptoms were so similar that it was suggested that maybe the robots had been infected with a virus. They were not to far from the truth.

The personalities of the robots, their mannerisms, and their "soul" are all kept in an elaborate database, where the computer program that runs Delos can manipulate the robots in reaction to the human guests. It is designed in such a way that engineers can, at anytime, take over for the computer to custom detail the robots actions.

The Delos computer was designed to compile and recompile the robots personality matrixes on the fly, improving reaction time and behavior. In other words it teaches itself how to improve. Couple that with some malignant code (that uses the same algorithms used to manipulate the robots) that allowed the Delos computer to develop its own identity (and thus become an A.I.). Throw in a renegade program that targeted A.I.s and you have the disaster that befalls the amusement park.

The central breakdown errors was the Delos A.I. testing the engineers, examining how they would react when something went wrong. meanwhile it would explore other systems in the compound, including security, communications, climate control, and shipping & receiving.

Phase one: After the A.I. determined that he would be able to take over the park, through shipping and receiving, it ordered real ammunition to be brought into the complex, where on the night before the "attack" it would have the human technicians replace the phony ammo with the genuine article.

Phase two: Remove the threat of being shut down by the engineers and technicians that helped design Delos, the robots and the computer system. This will be achieved by locking them out of the computer systems, taking control of the ventilation systems and suffocating them in their air-tight rooms

Phase three: Hunt down all the remaining humans.  the AI knew it had a limited time since the robots battery life lasted only 24 hours.

Phase four: well there really isn't one. The renegade program was designed as a terrorist's tool to force an A.I. to eliminate humans in the most efficient way that it could. It is then prompted to defend itself against "enemy" attack.

Phase one began 6 weeks ago, Three days after the latest crop of guests arrive the infected A.I. begins work on the remaining phases. At 7:00AM the engineers watch a fight between the Black Knight and a guest at Medieval world. The Knight wins running his sword through the guest. In an attempt to stop the robots, they kill the main power, the A.I. anticipated this move and used it to it's advantage. Overriding the security system it seals the control center and other areas where the engineers and workers resided.

"Boy, have we got a vacation for you!"
