After receiving a cryptic unsigned letter, John Mason and his trusty horse, Duke, travel to a mine, where they befriend Janet Carter, the daughter of a double-crossed miner. As Mason and Carter attempt to figure out why they were both summoned there, they find themselves the targets of frontier outlaw Joe Ryan and his vicious gang.
